Update #195 - Eighty-five (85) additional confirmed COVID-19 Cases, one (1) additional confirmed death, two (2) additional non-COVID related deaths and seventy-eight (78) additional persons recovered

The Ministry of Health confirms today that there are eighty-five (85) additional confirmed cases of COVID-19. This brings the total number of confirmed cases to five thousand one hundred sixty-three (5,163).  There have been three thousand nine hundred thirty-seven (3,937) confirmed cases of COVID-19 in New Providence, six hundred fifty-eight (658) confirmed cases in Grand Bahama, one hundred sixty (160) confirmed cases in Abaco, fifty-six (56) confirmed cases in Bimini, thirty-three (33) confirmed cases in Exuma, twenty-nine (29) confirmed cases in Eleuthera, nineteen (19) confirmed cases in Inagua, seventeen (17) confirmed cases in the Berry Islands, twelve (12) confirmed cases in Long Island, ten (10) confirmed cases in Andros, nine (9) confirmed cases in Cat Island, seven (7) confirmed cases in Acklins, five (5) confirmed cases in Crooked Island, three (3) confirmed cases in Mayaguana, and two hundred eight (208) confirmed cases with locations pending.

Investigations are ongoing, and health officials continue to follow the condition of the other current COVID-19 positive cases.  

The Ministry of Health also confirms the death of a eighty-six (86) year old male of New Providence who passed on 11th October, 2020. The Ministry of Health also confirms two non-COVID related deaths. These unfortunate deaths increase the non-COVID related deaths to twenty (20) and confirmed death toll to one hundred eight (108). 

To date, twenty-four thousand six hundred ninety-four (24,694) tests have been completed.  Hospitalized cases decreased from one hundred ten (110) to one hundred four (104).  Further, there were seventy-eight (78) recovered cases so that the total recovered cases now tally at two thousand nine hundred seventy-eight (2,978).    

The public is reminded to practice the following measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19:

  • wear a face mask when you leave home;
  • wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, and if soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 70% alcohol;
  • cover your cough or sneeze in your inner elbow or with a tissue; and
  • clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces such as phones, remotes controls, counters, doorknobs, and keyboards.
 Do your part to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
