NASSAU, The Bahamas - The Ministry of Works and Urban Development, in collaboration with the Inter-American Development Bank, will host Town Hall Meetings in East Grand Bahama, New Providence, and Central Long Island during the month of January for residents and stakeholders to discuss the “Climate-Resilient Coastal Management and Infrastructure Program.”

Town Hall Meetings, to which the public is invited, are as follows:

Monday, January 23, 2017 -- East End Junior High School, Grand Bahama, at 6:30 p.m.

Wednesday, January 25, 2017 -- St. Mary the Virgin Church, Virginia Street, Nassau, at 6:30 p.m.

Monday, January 30, 2017 -- Clarence Town Community Center, Long Island, at 6:30 p.m.

The aim of the meetings is to collect information with regards to erosion, shoreline retreat and other environmental concerns.

The Climate-Resilient Coastal Management and Infrastructure Program will finance sustainable coastal protection infrastructure in Nassau, Central Long Island, and East Grand Bahama; natural infrastructure for hazard resilience in Andros; and institutional strengthening for coastal risk management.

The objective is to build resilience to coastal risks (including those associated with climate change).

The project is being considered for financing by the Inter-American Development Bank.
