NASSAU, The Bahamas - Stakeholders in the 29th Edition of the National High School Championships photographed, during a press conference, on March 6, 2018, at the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Culture (MOYSC).  That Ministry, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, will host the three-day event at the Thomas A. Robinson National Stadium from March 8, with free admission.  They will also provide for the top 20 athletes from 30 Family Island schools to travel to New Providence to compete with 67 school teams.  There will be about 900 athletes competing, including a number from home schools, and the event will serve as a CARIFTA qualifier.  The official opening will take place on Day Two -- Friday, March 9.  Director of Sports at MOYSC Timothy Munnings touted that event as a part of an "exciting time for all of our track and field athletes throughout our country."  "We expect to receive a number of athletes, representing the best that each school has to offer," he said.  Coordinator of the Sports Unit in the Ministry of Education Evon Wisdom added, "We see this as something that is growing in a positive direction, and we only see good things to come because of our collaborative efforts with the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Culture."  (BIS Photo/Derek Smith)
