 The Office of the Attorney-General and Ministry of Legal Affairs and the legal fraternity are
deeply saddened by the sudden passing of the Hon. Mr. Justice Ricardo Marques (retired).
Justice Marques (as he then was) was a Guyanese by birth, but by actions, a true Bahamian patriot who made The Bahamas his second home.
His dedicated service to the public service, generally, and the Office of the Attorney-General and Ministry of Legal Affairs, in particular, as well as the legal community made him, a true Bahamian in the finest form.
In his earlier years, Justice Marques served as the Director of Legal Affairs in the Office of the Attorney-General, before becoming a Justice of the Supreme Court. In more recent years, he served as a Consultant in the Law Reform and Revision Commission, in the Office of the Attorney-General and Ministry of Legal Affairs.
Justice Marques will truly be missed. He brought to bear, without question, an extensive legal knowledge and an excellent work ethic. We extend our sincere condolences to Justice Marques' family and celebrate his positive impact over the many years.
