Outstanding women celebrated for National Women’s Week

NASSAU, The Bahamas – In celebration of National Women’s Week 2017, the Ministry of Social Services and Urban Development recognized six Bahamian women for their accomplishments.

Dame Ivy Dumont, Italia Johnson, Frances Ledee, Dame Joan Sawyer, the Hon. Janet Bostwick and Rev. Dr. Cynthia “Mother” Pratt were honored at a reception at the British Colonial Hilton Hotel, Friday, December 8, 2017.

The event was held in observance of National Women’s Week on the theme, “Strong Women, Strong Families, Strong Communities.”

The Hon. Lanisha Rolle, Minister of Social Services and Urban Development, officially welcomed the guests and presented awards to the recipients.

Janet Bostwick gave a toast to women. Lillian Quant-Forbes, acting director, also participated in the event. The Urban Renewal Band provided music for the occasion.
