Nassau, Bahamas - Nassau, Bahamas - The leadership of the Progressive Liberal Party canceled the Nation Convention scheduled for this month to focus on the four constitutional bills currently before Parliament. The bills are at the second reading. The House, which convenes next Wednesday, November 19 was not prorogued because the government did not want the bills to die. They did not cancel the prayer breakfast however where the party faithful came out in great numbers to fellowship, socialize and hear from their leader.

The leader and Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon. Perry G. Christie told those gathered not to forget from whence The Bahamas had come in twenty-eight short months. He said his government did not shy away from the challenges confronting the country but "boldly and confidently" addressed them while others ducked, double-talked, back tracked and jeered the government in the face of the difficult, tough but necessary decisions the PLP government made during its first twenty-eight months in office.

The Prime Minister listed fiscal reform, social reform, constitutional reform and financial services reform as some examples of the tough decisions his government has made and in support of his claim that the last legislative session was arguably "the most reform driven legislative session in an independent Bahamas."

Commenting on the emotive topic of immigration, the Prime Minister stated that it was is not the policy of the government of The Bahamas to detain children, but reiterated that the immigration laws of The Bahamas must and will be enforced and all wards of the state will be treated humanely. He blasted those who were responsible for spreading misinformation about the policy's implementation and about the government and people of The Bahamas.

He rallied the troops not to lose faith because some policy initiative did not materialize as quickly as they would like and he urged them to be strong as he was increasingly optimistic about the future prospects of the country's growth and prosperity.

Also addressing the faithfully gathered was National Chairman who called on the government to implement all of the UR2.0 programs and the National Youth Restorative Program in collaboration with YEAST and the Catholic Diocese. He urged Bahamians not to be fearful of crime but to cultivate a spirit of intolerance toward crime and work with the government to expose those criminal elements among them.

The Rev. Trajean Jadorette, Senior Pastor of New Covenant Baptist Church delivered the sermon.

Overall, the PLP faithful had a good time and obviously enjoyed themselves.
