BULLOCK'S HARBOUR, The Berry Islands, The Bahamas - Prime Minister and Minister of Finance the Rt. Hon. Perry Christie announced during a town meeting at Bullock's Harbour, in the Berry Islands, on September 23, 2016, that he and a delegation of senior Cabinet Ministers Government officials met earlier that day with a U.S. developer who was seeking to start construction by year's end of a small hotel and condominium project on Great Harbour Cay, effectively increasing the tourism product in the Berry Islands by some 101 rooms.

"The developer has the capacity to finance it, to see it built," Prime Minister Christie said.

He added that the construction and the running of the facility could result in as many as 130 jobs directly and some 300 indirect employment opportunities.

Also a part of the delegation were Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Works and Urban Development the Hon. Philip "Brave" Davis; Minister of Tourism the Hon. Obie Wilchcombe; Minister of Transport and Aviation the Hon. Glenys Hanna Martin; Minister of Education, Science and Technology the Hon. Jerome Fitzgerald; Minister of Health the Hon. Dr. Perry Gomez; and other senior officials.

Prime Minister Christie said that such an increase means the possibility of more people coming to live on the island, needing improved and progressively-developed infrastructure.

He pointed out that the Cabinet Ministers who were with him visited and examined various facilities and infrastructural areas -- including the clinic, R. N. Gomez All Age School, the airport, electricity station and dock.

Each Cabinet Minister addressed residents about proposed developments, as well as the commitments and investments the Government is making in the Berry Islands, as well as Public Private Partnership initiatives.
