In celebration of the 10th anniversary of the opening of the Martin Luther King Jr. memorial, Prime Minister Hon. Philip Davis traveled to Washington D.C., to participate in various events that paid homage to the milestone anniversary.

Today, during his visit to the U.S. capital city, the Prime Minister was met at the Marriott Marquis Washington D.C. hotel entrance by the Chair and President of the Martin Luther King Monument Memorial, Harry Johnson Sr.

Prime Minister Davis also addressed the National Board of Directors of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc., the first black intercollegiate Greek-letter fraternity, of which Martin Luther King Jr. was a member. He also expressed his excitement in welcoming them to The Bahamas for their upcoming international conference.

This evening, during the Anniversary Gala titled “Moving the Dream Forward ...Forever a Stone of Hope”, the Prime Minister is expected to present a gift to the foundation on behalf of The Bahamas.

Fashion designer Tommy Hilfiger is expected to be a table host for the night, with other invited guests including Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi and Congresswoman Maxine Waters.
