NASSAU, The Bahamas -- Officers and members of the British Legion
Bahamas Branch paid a courtesy call and presented Her Excellency the
Governor General Dame Marguerite Pindling with the ‘First Poppy’ of
Remembrance at Government House on Monday, October 20, 2014.
The poppy
was presented to the Governor General in recognition of upcoming
Remembrance Day in November to memorialize those who lost their lives in
war. The remembrance poppy alludes to poppies that bloomed on
battlefields of Flanders in World War 1.
