Prime Minister makes visit to Texas to identify Foreign Investment and Business Opportunities

Prime Minister's Visit To Austin And Houston Texas Sunday 21, January - Wednesday, 24 January, 2018

1.    The Cabinet Office announces that The Hon Dr. Hubert Minnis, Prime Minister, will visit Austin and Houston Texas between 21-24 January 2018. He will lead a delegation comprising:

1.    Hon. Darren Henfield, Minister of Foreign Affairs
2.    Senator the Hon. James Kwasi Thompson, Minister of State for Grand
Bahama
3.    Mr. Joshua Sears, Senior Policy Advisor
4.    Mr. Cornelius Smith, None Resident Ambassador-designate for Central American States
5.    Ms. Yontalay Bowe, Photographer/Social Media
6.    Mr. Kirk Bastian, Aide to the Prime Minister

2.The Prime Minister will be joined in Texas by His Excellency Sidney Collie, Ambassador to the United States, Mrs. Linda Mackey, Consul General, Miami, and Mr. Lynden Rose, Honorary Consul, Houston, Texas.

. The objectives of the visit are:
  •     To develop a relationship between the Governor of Texas and The Prime Minister of The Bahamas with the expressed purpose of identifying foreign investment and business opportunities that would benefit The Bahamas. Austin is now known as Silicon Hills because of the many tech companies that call Austin home. Dell HP Google Facebook, AMO, Ebay PayPal, Cisco Systems, Samsung, Silcon Laboratory, IBM, Flextronics, Freescale Semiconductor. Some are the largest employers in Austin. If some of these companies are represented at the I unch, contact can be made to see what interest might be there in investing in The Bahamas. The delegation may also visits some of their facilities.
  •     To meet and interact with the Bahamian diaspora (students, professionals and others) living, studying and or working in Texas.
Meetings are to be held with business executives especially technology executives, financial and investment advisors, Chambers of Commerce leaders and others.
