Prime Minister the Most Hon. Dr. Hubert Minnis visited the COVID-19 Contact Tracing Command Centre today to say thank you to the group of public health experts, doctors, nurses, National Health Insurance staff and medical student volunteers working to enhance contact tracing during the second wave of COVID-19 in The Bahamas.

A special contact tracing team, led by consultant and special adviser to the Prime Minister, Dr. Merceline Dahl-Regis, is based at the Melia Nassau Beach Hotel convention centre, Cable Beach.

“I want to thank you all for your contribution. Your contact tracing has helped us progress to the point we are now,” Prime Minister Minnis told the group.

“I have confidence in the health team, and I know that we will overcome this together.”

Dr. Dahl-Regis thanked the group for their tireless work and the staff at the Melia hotel for their service.

In response to the second wave, 62 volunteers were recruited and 76 health staff re-assigned to carry out contact tracing on New Providence, Grand Bahama and the Family Islands.
