Nassau, The Bahamas - Bahamas Prime Minister and chairman of CARICOM the Rt. Hon. Perry G. Christie leads a ministerial delegation to Washington D.C. on Sunday to participate in the inaugural Caribbean Energy Security Summit. Mr. Christie is scheduled to deliver the policy position of both CARICOM and The Bahamas at this summit. The meetings will be held at the Harry S. Truman Building, US Department of State.

The Summit will be hosted by United States Vice President Joseph Biden.

Accompanying the Prime Minister are the Minister of Foreign Affairs Hon. Fred Mitchell, Minister for The Environment Hon. Kenred Dorsett and Bahamas Ambassador to Washington, H.E. Eugene Newry in addition to support staff.

While in Washington D.C., the Prime Minister is scheduled to meet with the United States Secretary of State, John Kerry; the Secretary General of CARICOM HE Irwin LaRocque, his fellow CARICOM Heads of Government and hold a briefing with the Bahamas Embassy and Consulate staff stationed in Washington D.C.

Minister Dorsett returns to Nassau at the conclusion of the Washington energy summit but for the balance of the delegation, it’s on to Costa Rica on Tuesday where Minister of Financial Services, Hon. Hope Strachan will join them in the capital city of San Jose for the 3rd summit of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States, or CELAC.

The delegation is due back in Nassau late Wednesday night.
