Retirement Reception Honours Road Traffic’s Basil Rahming

FREEPORT, Grand Bahama - A retirement reception was held on Wednesday, September 16, for Basil Rahming, retired Deputy Controller of the Road Traffic Department and former Senior Police Officer. The event was held in the Conference Room of the Administrator's Office -- Mr. Rahming was recognized and thanked for his contribution to not only the traffic department, but the Grand Bahama Road Safety Committee as well.
     
Mr. Rahming assisted the Grand Bahama Road Safety Committee realize a number of their initiatives, namely the Courteous Driver of the Quarter Award, done in conjunction with the Rotary Club of Lucaya. Approximately 24 awardees have been recognized.
      
There was also the Road Traffic Victims Day Observance, held on the third Sunday in November annually, when the Committee attended church and participated by reading the Declaration from the International Body.
       
Other activities included speaking with school children and handing out leaflets with safety tips at roundabouts: the committee is in the process of planning a competition within the schools in speech, rap and art.
