“The Road Traffic Department is very concerned about traffic congestion,” Mr Smith said. “We are working closely with the Traffic Division of the Royal Bahamas Police Force to alleviate some of the frustration members of the public experience during peek traffic hours. “One of our major concerns is public service vehicles and we are relying heavily on the Traffic Division to help us with bringing order to these vehicles,” Mr Smith said. He addressed members of the media at a news conference at the Police Traffic Division, Wednesday, March 10. Mr Smith explained that the Road Traffic Department has a manpower constraint and urged the public to assist by providing information. “We are asking the public to call and give the information when they see things going on that are contrary. We are relying on you to provide us with information and help us to control this problem.” He pointed out that the Data Processing Unit of the Road Traffic Department is in the process of gathering information to automate its vehicle and driver’s license databases in New Providence and Grand Bahama.
