PHA/GBHS: Scotiabank donates $30,000.00 to aid in equipment for Children at the Rand Memorial Hospital

Grand Bahama Health Services’ Executive Management Committee accepted a cheque in the amount of thirty thousand dollars ($30,000.00) during a presentation event on Friday February 19, 2021.  

Mr. Roger Archer, Managing Director, Scotiabank Bahamas Limited, on presenting the cheque to Ms. Sharon Williams, Administrator, Grand Bahama Health Services, said that in recognition of the Rand Memorial Hospital’s ongoing efforts to provide health care to its patients particularly after the passage of Hurricane Dorian and more recently the worldwide coronavirus pandemic, Scotiabank wanted to support the readiness of the hospital to serve the community.

Upon accepting the donation on behalf of the Ministry of Health, Public Hospitals Authority and Grand Bahamas Health Services, Ms. Sharon Williams expressed gratitude for the generous donation and stated that the equipment being purchased will improve the institution’s capacity to provide essential health care for the children.  She said, “much progress is being made in the restoration of our facility by our Government’s commitment to partnership with organisations such as yours who have determined the importance of rebuilding health care facilities on Grand Bahama and committed resources to assist.”

The funds will facilitate procurement of one (1) Ventilator, one (1) Paediatric Monitor and two (2) Paediatric Wheelchairs for the Lula Knowles Paediatrics Ward.
