NASSAU, The Bahamas -  Minister of Social Services & Urban Development the Hon. Frankie Campbell addressed a one-day seminar for girls at Adventure Learning Centre, October 11, 2018 in recognition of United Nations International Day of the Girl Child, celebrated annually since 2012. This day, said Minister Campbell, aims to highlight and address the needs and challenges girls face, while promoting girls' empowerment and the fulfillment of their human rights. This year the theme --  "With Her: A  Skilled Girl Force" -- embodies the environment that we, the nation state, society, the community and individual families, must create to ensure that our girls throughout the country are prepared to enter a world of work that is constantly being transformed through innovation and competency, he said. The girls heard from speakers on topics such as "from broken to beautiful," "beauty with a purpose," "attitude" and "choices."  The seminar's theme was 'Girls Speak Out.'   Also pictured addressing the young women is Ministry of Social Services & Urban Development Director of Gender and Family Affairs, Dr. Jacinta Higgs.  (BIS Photos/Raymond A.
