FREEPORT, Grand Bahama -- Heightened communication coordination between national and local emergency agencies was called for by Minister of State for Grand Bahama, Senator Kwasi Thompson (right) on Monday, September 11, 2017, after the passage of Hurricane Irma and a government agencies appraisal of the impact of the hurricane began.

The massive hurricane barreled through the region, damaging several Islands of The Bahamas late last week.

Senator Thompson is pictured with Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Finance and Member of Parliament for East End, the Hon. K. Peter Turnquest in preparation mode last week as they discussed shelters with the Director of Social Services in Grand Bahama at the Emergency Operation Centre.  (BIS Photo)
