Students Get Career Experience at Ministry of Public Works

On Friday 20th April, 2018 The Minister of Public Works, the Hon. T. Desmond Bannister congratulated a group of eleventh grade students who participated in the Student Work Experience Programme at The Ministry of Public Works.

Under the guidance of a mentor, the programme exposes students to the various career disciplines at the Ministry. They are afforded the opportunity to choose an area of interest, either dependent upon their current studies or future career aspirations. The four high schoolers were placed in the Human Resources Unit (Kerri Ramsay) and Mechanical & Electrical Engineering Section (Lanario Williams,Hilton Forbes,Brion Mackey) for one week.

Before bidding farewell, Minister Bannister spoke to the group about the benefits of a sound education, determination, and the importance of creating a vision for their life. The students were encouraged to continue in the pursuit of excellence. The luncheon event concluded with a presentation in recognition of their successful completion of the programme.
