FREEPORT, Grand Bahama - Three charitable organizations were the recipients of a cheque for $6,000 each on Friday evening, thanks to the generosity of Bahamas Striping Group of Companies and Caribbean Pavement Solutions. The presentations were made at Pelican Bay Resort.

Guest speaker for the evening, Minister for Grand Bahama the Hon. Dr. Michael Darville noted that he was pleased to celebrate with "a group of dynamic young businessmen." This, he said, is what the country is all about -- coming from humble beginnings but through hard work and dedication, building something meaningful.

The donations were as the result of a campaign, 'The Dollar That Could,' which ran for a year and successfully raised $18,000.

According to Minister Darville, this particular programme is very special because it has clearly demonstrated that with the support of the business community, "we are able to raise a substantial amount of capital and support charitable organizations on the island of Grand Bahama."

Bahamas Striping Group of Companies started five years ago, and president, Atario Mitchell said the campaign was not just about raising the money, but who would benefit from it. He credited the businesses who partnered with him in this venture, namely Kelly's, Sawyers Meat and Express Mart.

Benefiting from this campaign were the Grand Bahama Children's Home, Rotary International, and the Grand Bahama Humane Society.
