Nassau, Bahamas - The Ministry of National Security noted, with concern, the media reports of 19 and 20 October 2009 which alleged that the lawyer for Clinton Forbes, accused murderer of Jeffery Johnson-Rolle, told the Magistrate at his arraignment that Mr. Forbes feared for his life if he is remanded to Her Majesty's Prison, Fox Hill.

According to the media reports, Mr. Forbes' lawyer reportedly indicated that while in custody at the Central Detective Unit, he had been told that he would be dealt with" once remanded to Her Majesty's Prisons, as the uncle of murder victim Jeffery Johnson- Rolle was a Prison Official. A media report later identified Deputy Superintendent of Prisons, Mr. Charles Rolle, as that Prison Official.

The Ministry wishes to state for the records that Deputy Superintendent Charles Rolle is not the uncle of Jeffery Johnson-Rolle. The Ministry further wishes to emphasise that Deputy Superintendent Rolle's more than thirty (30) years of service to Her  Majesty's Prisons has been, and continues to be, distinguished by his professionalism and commitment to the laws and regulations governing the custody and treatment of offenders, and those remanded to the Prisons.
