Nassau, The Bahamas - Prime Minister the Most Hon. Dr. Hubert Minnis called on the nation at large to better prepare for threats posed by climate change. He was addressing the 29th Bahamas Business Outlook at Baha Mar resort, January 16, 2020 under the theme: "A New Era: Resilience in the Face of Vulnerability."

The Prime Minister noted that the 2020 Business Outlook, approaching its third decade, has become one of the major business conferences in The Bahamas:
"This year, we gather under unprecedented circumstances following the most devastating hurricane in the nation's history."  He observed that while the effects of the global climate emergency have been gathering pace for decades, Hurricane Dorian has helped dramatize the existential threat of climate change to The Bahamas.

The Prime Minister also addressed the progress being made in the recovery and the rebuilding of Abaco, Abaco Cays and Grand Bahama.

He stated, "It is incumbent upon all is us, including the media, the commercial sector, churches, unions, political parties, non-profits and others to help our people to better understand and to prepare for the many threats posed by climate change."
