Nassau, The Bahamas -- Presenting its athletics brand to the community, the University of The Bahamas (UB) held a fun-filled 'UB Blue Day and Pep Rally' on Thursday, March 2, at the Oakes Field Campus, introducing the men's basketball team, 'UB Mingoes,' and the institution's 'Mingoes Mascot' to the student body and the general public. The word, Mingoes, is in recognition of the National Bird, the flamingo.
At the pep rally, the Miss UB contestants were revealed, in lead-up to the contest on March 9. The Mingoes inaugural baskeball game is against the P.J. Stingers on Saturday, March 4, at 9:00 p.m. at the Kendal Isaacs Gym. UB Blue Day is a chance for the campus community to sport its UB Royal Blue.
