Update #197 - One hundred ninety-four (194) additional confirmed COVID-19 cases, three (3) additional confirmed deaths and one hundred (100) additional recovered cases

The Ministry of Health confirms today that there are one hundred ninety-four (194) additional confirmed cases of COVID-19. 

As stated in Update #196, the long holiday weekend led to delayed reporting from a  number of laboratories.  Hence, the one hundred ninety-four (194) additional COVID-19 cases today is an additive effect of the cases recorded and reported during the period 7th - 13th October, 2020.    The Ministry of Health will continue to work with reporting laboratories to ensure timely submissions of COVID-19 reports. 

These additional one hundred ninety-four (194) confirmed cases bring the total number of confirmed cases to five thousand three hundred eighty-five (5,385).  There have been four  thousand one hundred thirty-six (4,136) confirmed cases of COVID-19 in New Providence, six hundred fifty-nine (659) confirmed cases in Grand Bahama, one hundred sixty (160) confirmed cases in Abaco, fifty-six (56) confirmed cases in Bimini, thirty-three (33) confirmed cases in Exuma, thirty (30) confirmed cases in Eleuthera, nineteen (19) confirmed cases in Inagua, seventeen (17) confirmed cases in the Berry Islands, twelve (12) confirmed cases in Long Island, eleven (11) confirmed cases in Andros, nine (9) confirmed cases in Cat Island, seven (7) confirmed cases in Acklins, five (5) confirmed cases in Crooked Island, three (3) confirmed cases in Mayaguana, and two hundred twenty-eight (228) confirmed cases with locations pending.

Investigations are ongoing, and health officials continue to follow the condition of the other current COVID-19 positive cases. 

The Ministry of Health also confirms the death of a fifty-one (51) year old male of New Providence who passed away on 13th October, 2020, and the deaths of a seventy-nine (79) year old female and a sixty-six (66) year old male of New Providence who both passed away on 14th October, 2020. These unfortunate deaths increase the confirmed death toll to one hundred twelve (112).  

To date, twenty-five thousand five hundred eighty-five (25,585) tests have been completed.  Hospitalized cases increased by six (6) to one hundred twelve (112). Further, there were one hundred (100) recovered cases so that the total recovered cases now tally at three thousand one hundred seventy-eight (3,178).
