Nassau, Bahamas - Prime Minister the Rt. Hon. Hubert Ingraham (right), meets His Excellency Michel Joseph Martelly, President of the Republic of Haiti during a courtesy call at the Office of the Prime Minister, Wednesday, February 8th, 2012.

The President paid an official two-day visit to The Bahamas, meeting with Governor General Sir Arthur Foulkes, senior government ministers and other officials.

Bahamas calls for improved cooperation against illicit drug trade

The Bahamas has recommended improved cooperation between the Caribbean and the United States of America in the fight against the trafficking of guns and narcotics throughout the region.

His Excellency C A Smith, The Bahamas Ambassador to the United States made the statement as he addressed the US Senate Caucus on International Narcotics Control hearing on “US-Caribbean Security Cooperation”, which took place on February 1, 2012.

Motorists should note that the northern section of Abundant Life Road (near to Chelsea’s Choice) will be closed for one day only on Thursday, February 9 ^th to facilitate laying of the final layer of asphalt. Motorists should use Old Trail Road or East Street as an alternative route.
