(CHRISTCHURCH, Barbados) - The Caribbean Institute of Certified Management Consultants (CICMC) recently convened in Curacao for its 10th Anniversary Annual Conference which was hosted by the CICMC-Overseas Countries and Territories (OCT) Interim Chapter.

The overarching message of the presentations from both the government and private sectors was based on the conference theme Breaking Barriers: Managing your Practice, Improving your Product, Partnering for Success.

The three-day conference proposed a grand vision for the economic and social development of the Caribbean, sharing insight on the pressing issues of consultants in the region such as collaborating to increase business competitiveness, intellectual property protection, branding, and skills gaps in local markets.

In addition to presentations by CICMC members, featured speakers included Eugene Rhuggenaath, Prime Minister of The Government of Curacao, Executive Director Reema Nasser, International Council of Management Consulting Institutes (ICMCI), General Manager Therese Turner-Jones, Inter-American Development Bank - Caribbean Country Department, Executive Director Sylvia Dohnert PhD, Compete Caribbean and Governor John Rolle, Central Bank of The Bahamas. Presentations were also made by renowned experts from the CARICOM Secretariat, the EU Delegation to Guyana, Suriname and Dutch OCTs, and the Caribbean Export Development Agency.

In his keynote remarks, Prime Minister Rhuggenaath spoke of his vision for one Caribbean, highlighting the need for collaborative efforts to move the region forward while emphasizing that “…communities should take intentional steps towards the social and economic development of citizens.”

At the close of the conference, CICMC President Donald Demeritte thanked delegates and speakers for a successful event, noting the organisation’s mission to bring professional consultants together and leverage their collective strength. “This conference represented a defining moment for the CICMC and the information and vision articulated by the speakers really demonstrated the depth and breadth of talent across the Caribbean,” said Demeritte.

“We believe that through a shared vision for progress and collaboration with our regional and global partners, the future we are building is a bright one full of Caribbean expertise.”
