SOUTH FLORIDA - Caribbean media veteran Lukkee Chong will receive the 2014 Caribbean Media Exchange (CMEx) Leadership Award this month in South Florida.

Organizers announced that Chong will receive the honor at an awards presentation during the second annual Evenings of Excellence series, sponsored by Wells Fargo Home Mortgage, on Tuesday, October 21, 2014.

The Fort Lauderdale-based Chong won't have to travel very far as the empowering event will be held at the Miramar Cultural Center/ArtsPark (2400 Civic Center Place, Miramar, Florida).

The Jamaica-born Chong joins travel and tourism veteran Horace Hord (announced earlier) in receiving the award in recognition of his sterling commitment to the development and promotion of tourism in the Caribbean region.

An award-winning television producer, Chong is the co-founder of Frame by Frame Productions, one of the premier television companies in Jamaica, the Caribbean and its Diaspora.

Under Chong's direction, the company has produced countless advertisements, programs and documentaries, chronicling people and places across the Caribbean and the Diaspora.

For more than 10 years, Frame by Frame produced the popular "Island Stylee" travel magazine featured on Air Jamaica's in-flight entertainment schedule and broadcast on Black Entertainment Television.

Most recently, Chong has embraced the "festival tourism" movement to promote Caribbean destinations, and along with a group of colleagues launched The Caribbean Diaspora Weekly television show on The CW Network in South Florida this month.

After South Florida, the empowering Evenings of Excellence series moves to New York on Wednesday, November 12 at the popular Christian Cultural Center in Brooklyn (12020 Flatlands Avenue, Brooklyn, New York).

Both events are free and will feature presentations by Caribbean author, economist and motivational speaker Zhivargo Laing, who will address attendees under the theme: "Discovering the Power to Rise".

Evenings of Excellence is sponsored by Wells Fargo Home Mortgage and supported by the Caribbean Media Exchange (CMEx), Christian Cultural Center, Finn Partners, Marketplace Excellence, Miramar Cultural Center, Omni Hotels and Resorts, Sa'k Pase Media Group, SENA Sales and Marketing, South Florida Caribbean News, and the United States Virgin Islands.
