Nassau, Bahamas - Royal Caribbean International’s job fair Monday attracted a steady stream of applicants flowing through the National Training Agency on Gladstone Road as the award-winning global cruise brand, looks to fill a wide variety of positions on their ships.

“We met some excellent, enthusiastic candidates who were interested in coming aboard. Some would make a great addition to our team,” said Royal Caribbean International’s Senior Manager, Talent Acquisition, Cynthia Williams-Johnson who was in Nassau for the event.

Royal Caribbean’s staff ran a tight ship on day one of the two-day event which saw job seekers processed at a brisk pace from 10am to 3pm with individual interviews.

The job fair comes as the cruise line deployed the world’s newest and largest cruise ship, Symphony of the Seas and as Royal Caribbean – known for changing the game for how travelers vacation – gets set to complete its new Perfect Day at CocoCay® premiering next May on its mile-long private island in the Berry Islands.

Those developments translate into expanded opportunities for Bahamians with the cruise line set to hire for a numbers of areas aboard its ships including food and beverage, hotel operations, culinary and entertainment departments.

Candidates who want to take advantage of Tuesday’s job fair are asked to dress in business casual-wear and bring along a résumé.

The cruise line said it plans to host a second round with another job fair in December aiming to fill jobs at its expanded Coco Cay in the Berry Islands. Royal Caribbean has said hiring Bahamians is among its top priorities and the introduction of Symphony of the Seas less than a year from the opening of the greatly expanded CocoCay following a $240 million redevelopment opens hundreds of job opportunities for the local market.

Nassau was the very first port of call for Royal Caribbean’s first cruise ship 50 years ago. Today, 25 of its ships are registered in The Bahamas. Each year the cruise line brings over 1.2 million vacationers to The Bahamas. Officials hope to grow that number to 1.75 million by 2021.
