CASTRIES, Saint Lucia  - The Saint Lucia Tourist Board is welcoming the appointment of distinguished hotelier Karolin Troubetzkoy as President of the Saint Lucia Hotel and Tourism Association (SLHTA).

Troubetzkoy, executive director of marketing and operations of the award-winning Anse Chastanet and Jade Mountain resorts in the southern town of Soufrière, assumes leadership of the private sector body from Elite Island Resorts' Anthony Bowen who served the association honourably over the past two years.

Speaking from the ITB Berlin travel trade show in her native Germany, Troubetzkoy said she looks forward to helping build meaningful public-private sector partnerships across the industry, improving the use of social media for communication among SLHTA's membership and boosting Saint Lucia's marketing and public relations charge in the marketplace.

"I am hoping to develop a stronger, symbiotic, yin yang relationship between the association and the Tourist Board", she stated, adding, "It will be absolutely necessary to meet today's marketplace challenges especially airlift."

Other priorities for Troubetzkoy, who serves as the Honorary Consul of Germany to Saint Lucia, include expanding SLHTA's membership and increasing training opportunities for Saint Lucians working across the sector.

Saint Lucia's Director of Tourism Louis Lewis welcomed the appointment of the seasoned hotelier following the association's 47th Annual General Meeting held earlier this month.

"Congratulations are in order to Karolin whose appointment to both the hotel association and the Saint Lucia Tourist Board is very welcome at this time," said Lewis, who looks forward to leveraging her vast expertise to help boost Saint Lucia's brand in the marketplace.

Saint Lucia's Minister of Tourism and Civil Aviation, Senator Allen Chastanet joined Lewis and the Board in welcoming Troubetzkoy to the post: "She's one of those extraordinary people who personifies excellence and we are honoured to have her on the team."
