Grand Bahama Port Authority (GBPA) Executives received a courtesy call from representatives of the British-Caribbean Chamber of Commerce (BCCC).   The BCCC was inaugurated in 2001.  

With its head office in the UK and chapters in the Caribbean, it connects Caribbean countries, to foster and develop trade and investment opportunities with the UK.  It is a daughter chamber of the Hull & Humber Chamber of Commerce, one of the UK's 52 British Chambers of Commerce accredited chambers...

Executive Director of the Organization for Responsible Governance (ORG) Matt Aubry joined the Grand Bahama Chamber of Commerce (GBCC) Wednesday to discuss a range of social and political reforms he said are necessary to change the course of governance in The Bahamas.
 
Addressing GBCC members at their April business luncheon, Aubry suggested that The Bahamas is suffering from a range of systemic challenges, which have repeatedly stunted its progress. He added that combating these challenges would require residents and the government to collaborate and look beyond national development as merely existing within five-year cycles.

Grand Bahama Chamber of Commerce (GBCC) President Mick Holding served as a guest speaker at the 19th Annual Grand Bahama Business Outlook, held Thursday, March 9 at the Grand Lucayan. During his presentation, Holding discussed Grand Bahama's potential for economic growth, explaining that cooperation between the GBCC, Grand Bahama Port Authority and Ministry for Grand Bahama is paramount to attracting Bahamian and foreign investors to the island.

For the third consecutive year, Minister for Grand Bahama, the Hon. Dr. Michael Darville served as Installation Officer for the Grand Bahama Chamber of Commerce’s annual Installation of Officers and Directors. The most recent installation took place February 4, 2017 in the Manor House of the Grand Lucayan.

In his short address before installing the newly-elected officers, Minister Darville admitted that the past 13 years in Grand Bahama has not been easy for business owners, but he recommitted himself to continuing to fight for business owners.

The Grand Bahama Chamber of Commerce (GBCC) made a generous contribution to the Bahamas Red Cross Grand Bahama Centre last month to aid Hurricane Matthew victims and others in need across the island.

Back in October, the GBCC launched a relief drive just weeks after the storm, calling on the corporate community to donate essential items like nonperishable foods and toiletries.

In keeping with its commitment to open communication, the Grand Bahama Chamber of Commerce's (GBCC) new executive board met with heads of the Hawksbill Creek Agreement Review Committee this month to establish familiarity between the review committee and the chamber's incoming directors.

During the visit, the GBCC executives formally introduced themselves and pledged to maintain good rapport with the committee. What is the Hawksbill Creek Agreement (HCA)?


In 1955, satisfied that the dredging and construction of a deep water harbour and turning basin at Hawksbill Creek, and the establishment of factories and industrial undertakings would be of great economic benefit to the country, the Government entered into the Hawksbill Creek Agreement (HCA) with the GBPA.

In an address to the Grand Bahama Chamber of Commerce on Wednesday, Ministry of Tourism Director Betty Bethel asserted that Grand Bahama's future ultimately rests in the hands of both public and private stakeholders. Bethel served as guest speaker for the GB Chamber's March business luncheon at The Pelican Bay Hotel, where she stressed the need for community participation in returning the island to its glory days.

"If we want Grand Bahama to succeed, we must be participants in the process," Bethel said. "We must form alliances and partnerships and engage out-of-the-box thinking to plan and execute innovative activities and programmes that will lift the destination and get Grand Bahama noticed in the market again..."
