Freeport, Bahamas - Enjoying the cools breezes and the view of ships sailing by, members of the business community came out to Senor Frog’s for the Grand Bahama Chamber of Commerce’s month Mix n Mingle last Thursday.

Each month, the Chamber chooses a fun spot for managers, owners and staff of local companies to network. This popular event offers several opportunities for the attendees.  Firstly, they get to meet in a casual atmosphere and talk business. Repeat attendance at these events lets managers, who would not normally be able to get out to make these contacts, get to know other in the community. It is often said that people like to do business with other people that they know. So the Chamber’s events enable this.
Secondly, it gives local restaurants and other venue a chance to highlight their services in a way they may not normally be able to do.

Lisa Turnquest, the Chamber’s Second Vice President and Fund Raising Chairman, stated, “We are always pleased when entities such as Senor Frogs opens its arms to the GB Chamber and its membership as it demonstrates a willingness to share in the whole process of developing and promoting our island. Each host is unique and it's our responsibility at the GBCC to showcase these unique features to our membership.”

Senor Frogs, capitalizing on its incredible success in Nassau, opened in Freeport late last year and has rapidly grown to be one of the most popular restaurant venue at the Lucayan Harbour. “We were thrilled to be asked by the Chamber to host the first M&M for 2013,” said Arturo Salas, Senor Frogs Bahamas. “We have had a wonderful reception here in Grand Bahama from everyone!”

Tourists who arrive via cruise ship love the fun atmosphere and delicious food at Senor Frog’s. Locals are starting to catch on and are jumping in on the fun that this restaurant chain has to offer. The staff at Senor Frog’s were happy to share samplings from their menu at the Mix n Mingle and even encourages a few Mix n Mingler’s to join in on the dancing and karaoke!

Tunrquest continued, “Personally it was delight to hear that this month's M&M gave so many of our members their first visit to this new establishment on Grand Bahama and created an appetite for future visits.”

A wide variety of businesses attended this Mix n Mingle, including representatives in the shipping industry, banking, Ministry of Tourism, the hotel sector, real estate, lawyers, retailers and entrepreneurs. This was truly a valuable opportunity for them to establish connections with each other.

Lisa Turnquest wrapped up the event with a raffle that offered a lunch for two to Senor Frog’s so attendees could come back again. She was very pleased with the turnout and how the Mix n Mingles have gained a following. “We certainly welcome these experiences because they are mutually beneficial and they keep our members "tuned in" in to the GBCC a very social way. Thanks to Senor Frogs and Barefoot Marketing for the whole experience...we had a blast!”

The Grand Bahama Chamber of Commerce hosts these fun events monthly and the next one is “The Top of the Town” at one of the penthouse suites at the Grand Lucayan near the end of May. The GB Chamber will also host the next Monthly Luncheon on May 8th and feature expert speakers on the topic of the impending VAT legislation and its effect on Freeport.
