Hank Ferguson, Director of the Bahamas Chamber of Commerce’s recently established Small and Medium Enterprises Support Unit recently represented that non-profit organization at the 93rd Board of Directors Meeting & Joint Regional Chambers and Manufacturers Meeting of the Caribbean Association of Industry and Commerce (CAIC) in St. Kitts and Nevis from February 5th - 8th, 2009.
Representatives from Chambers from throughout the English speaking Caribbean, the Dominican Republic, Guadeloupe and St. Maarten were in attendance. The meeting focused on issues related to the Global Financial Crisis and the impact on the Caribbean region.
Additional discussions centered on the implementation of the Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA) and the proposed activities for the organization in 2009 and arrangements for the Summit of the Americas scheduled for Trinidad and Tobago next month.
During the course of the meeting Ferguson had the opportunity to meet with the Minister of Finance and Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis, the Rt. Hon Denzil Douglas.
