Freeport, Bahamas - The Grand Bahama Chamber of Commerce is remaining true to its theme for 2012 ‘Reset, Restart and Restore’ with a focus on Small Businesses.

Back in 2010, The Grand Bahama Port Authority started the Downtown Turnaround Beautification Initiative to revitalize the centre of town. Residents and tourists can enjoy colorful flora, meticulous landscape and building facelift. This was the first phase of revitalizing of Downtown.

The Ministry of Tourism and GBPA with the intent of directing additional tourist and local traffic to this area has partnered with the GB Chamber to offer a holistic and sustained approach to the revitalizing of the Downtown Businesses through training.

The GB Chamber through its Education, Leadership and Small Business Committee will provide business seminars to empower business owners and building owners with improvement in business promotions and processes while the Ministry of Tourism will provide Bahamahost and Customer Service Training.

This partnership with GBCC, MOT, GBPA and the Downtown Business Association will provide a best practice case for other similar business Associations throughout Grand Bahama as efforts are made to improve the Grand Bahama product and business model.

The growth of the economy is the focus of many in Grand Bahama and GBCC, MOT and GBPA look forward to the continued full cooperation as already seen by the commitment of the executives of the Downtown Business Association who have banded together for a common cause to increase awareness, opportunities, jobs and profitability for all businesses in this area.

Grand Bahamians are encouraged to support local businesses as this will help in meeting these objectives as we ‘Reset, Restart and Restore’.
