Freeport, Bahamas - The Grand Bahama Chamber of Commerce (GBCC) Board and guests meet with Mr. John Rolle, Financial Secretary and Members of the Value Added Tax Implementation Team last night at an informal meeting held at the Pelican Bay, Canal House.
Secretary Rolle presented the attendees with the proposed roll out plan for VAT in The Bahamas. He then spent the evening in dialogue with the Chamber and guests about the specific unique features of Freeport, under the Hawksbill Creek Agreement.
"We were very pleased to meet with Mr. Rolle and his team," said President of the GBCC Barry Malcolm. "We attempted to convey in our discussion specifics of the structure of the economy of Grand Bahama and the real life impact of revenue increases on the viability of our economy. We look forward to having more discussions with him and the Policy Makers on VAT as well as inviting our full Chamber membership to partake in these meetings and understand the business impact of VAT."
