Freeport, Bahamas - Grand Bahama Chamber of Commerce (GBCC) President Mick Holding served as a guest speaker at the 19th Annual Grand Bahama Business Outlook, held Thursday, March 9 at the Grand Lucayan. During his presentation, Holding discussed Grand Bahama's potential for economic growth, explaining that cooperation between the GBCC, Grand Bahama Port Authority and Ministry for Grand Bahama is paramount to attracting Bahamian and foreign investors to the island. The new GBCC president acknowledged that conditions on Grand Bahama differ drastically today from when the island was affectionately called the "magic city", but expressed optimism that the economy and everyday life across the island could be revitalised.

Noting that Grand Bahama could geographically sustain some 500,000 residents, he emphasised the need to boost the population as a means of developing the economy. Holding also stated that creating the "right environment" would play a key role in encouraging the kind of investments that could spur job creation and dozens of support businesses.
