GB Chamber of Commerce Elect New Board for 2008-09

The Grand Bahama Chamber of Commerce held its annual general meeting and election of officers & directors on Wednesday, November 26, 2008 at the Westin At Our Lucaya Resort.  The slate of officers, as presented by the Nomination Committee were elected unopposed by the membership.  Presiding over the election was outgoing treasurer K. Peter Turnquest.

The board of directors for the 2008 – 2009 administrative year are Gregory Moss, President, Greg Langstaff, 1st vice president, Linda Turnquest, 2nd vice president, John Swain, treasurer, Rochelle Knowles, secretary, 1st year directors Jenny Barr, Charles Pratt, Minna Outten-Winters, Ta’Shar Cuccurrullo, Philip Franks, Cleveland Duncombe and returning to serve the second year of a two year term are directors Joyann McIntosh, Denise Adderley, Leigh Termath and Esmond Weekes. The Board of Directors consists of 15 members who must be members of the Grand Bahama Chamber of Commerce.
 
Elections are held every year, and in accordance with the Articles of Association, no officer may be re-elected to the office he holds at the end of the period of two years, but this shall not debar any such officer holding any other office or from being re-elected  to his previous office in some future election.  Installation of the incoming Board of Directors will be held in early February 2009.

President Moss in his response on being reelected said that he will work closely with stakeholders to drive the economy of Grand Bahama Island.  He thanked the membership for their confidence in him and the board of directors and he looks forward to making a significant difference during the new term.
