Grand Bahama Chamber Board to be Officially Installed at Annual Banquet

Freeport, Bahamas – The Grand Bahama Chamber of Commerce Annual Installation Banquet for its 2013-2014 elected Board Members will be held this Saturday, February 8th at the Grand Lucayan Resort.

The guest speakers for the event will be The Hon. Khaalis Rolle, Minister of State for Investment in the Office of the Prime Minister and Mr. Alexander Sokoloff, Political - Economic Specialist from the US Embassy in The Bahamas.

Mr. Barry Malcolm, returning President of the Grand Bahama Chamber of Commerce, will be inducted for his second year of service and will be on hand to address the business community on pressing local issues.The Banquet, under the theme, “The Future of Grand Bahama – The Way Forward”, is a formal, Black-tie affair and tickets are priced at $125 and are available at the Chamber’s office [Tel: 352-8329]. Cocktails commence at 7 p.m. with Dinner at 8 p.m.

The evening promises to be a fun night, starting with an official welcome by the Grand Bahama Youth Choir followed by entertainment provided by the ‘Upper Cut’ Band.

This premier event is the major fundraiser for the Grand Bahama Chamber of Commerce and it is hoped that the business community lends its support as the Chamber ‘takes care of business’. The funds raised are only a part of the vast amount of work that the Chamber and its Board do. Basically a volunteer position, Board members are charged with many activities throughout the year and the Committees that they run provide valuable services to its members.

“We are very excited about this year’s event,” said Mercynth Ferguson, Executive Director/Administrator of the Grand Bahama Chamber of Commerce. “We are expecting a full house and are pleased with the support thus far. We encourage those who are not members to join the Chamber on Saturday to promote business here in Grand Bahama.”

The last year has brought to the Chamber membership quite a few new members in a wide range of industries. The recent activities of the Chamber, challenging the Customs Management Act on behalf of the licensees of The Grand Bahama Port Authority, combined with an active Board of Directors and a new slate of business education programs, has increased the local interest in the Chamber.
