Prison Fellowship Bahamas (PFB) was successful on Saturday in the distribution of more than 150 food packages, the recipients being fathers who live in the areas surrounding Community Holiness Church, Bahama Avenue. Rev Anthony Sands, President of PFB, said it was a partnership with the men of the church, to bring pre-Father’s Day relief to some of the fathers and their families, who may be in need at this time. “While we are concerned with their spiritual well-being, we must respond to their physical needs as well”, said Rev. Sands, who is also an Associate Pastor at the church. He deemed it an honour to connect with and serve the men and families of the Englerston Community.
“Fathers need to know that they are not alone, and that God is concerned about every challenge that they face,” said Rev. Sands. He expressed the hope that the men would understand they are of great value to God, and are “needed in our homes, churches, schools and businesses, assisting with the transformation of our communities.” Prior to the food presentation, the men were encouraged by Elder David Williams, a PFB director and the host of “Uplifting Men” radio show. They also heard from Keith Cox, The Bahamas’ chairman of the International Men’s Day activities. And Denver Pratt, a PFB director, gave a riveting testimony of having missed out on 10 years of fatherhood, and the changes that were made in his life. Following the presentations the men were treated to snacks.
