The 20th Annual Atlantic Medical Fun Run Walk promises to be an unforgettable experience, offering participants the opportunity to win everything from cash prizes to a brand new 2018 car (pictured). The event is scheduled to be held on Saturday April 21, 2018 in both Nassau and Freeport, The event will begin at 6.30am starting at Montagu Beach in Nassau and starting at the Jasmine Corporate Centre in Freeport.

The local companies of Colonial Group International (CGI), inclusive of Atlantic Medical, Security & General and Colonial Pensions, have combined its efforts to host the 20th Annual Atlantic Medical Fun Run Walk. The goal is to make this year’s event the best one yet.

The Walk, which is in its 20th year will take place on Saturday April 21 and will be held in honour of CGI’s former President and CEO, Alan Peacock who passed away late last year. Peacock was a pure athlete at heart and fully supported the Fun Run Walks over the years.

Every year, participants of the Walks, which are held in both Nassau and Grand Bahama are eligible to win numerous prizes .  The feature prize of this year’s Run Walk will be a brand new2018 Chevy Spark which has been donated in a collective effort by the Colonial Group of Companies and  its subsidiaries.

Larry Gibson, Acting Chief Operating Officer for Colonial Pensions Limited says this year’s milestone build’s on the Groups motto - “Where People Come First “and displays the Group as one unified force operating in their various markets.

“There is a common philosophy that we always say and this was Alan’s – “where people come first”, said Gibson. “All of the sister companies support each other’s initiatives. That’s how a unified company behaves. For us, an Atlantic Medical event is a Colonial Pensions event. It’s a group initiative.”

This year a new element has also been added for participants between the ages of 10-18 via a social media competition encouraging them to take a photo with family and friends while on the Walk and posting it to Instagram with the hashtag: riseandshine, with the aim of getting the most likes to win a prize.

General Manger of Security and General Insurance, Paulette Turner says although Mr. Peacock did not live to celebrate the Walk into its 20th year, the Bahamian Chapter of the Group will continue to provide first-class service by putting its clients first and promoting health and wellness.

“The local management team is experienced,” she said. “We have succession plans in place to ensure a continuation of the very strong leadership which our clients have become accustomed to. This will continue.”

Lynda Gibson, Atlantic Medical’s Executive Vice President and General Manager adds that in addition to providing first class service and promoting health and fitness, the Group will continue giving back to the community as well.

“Atlantic Medical has valued being a corporate citizen over the many years and hold dear the charities that all proceeds are donated to. We continue to encourage healthy lifestyles.”

Every year the proceeds from the event are divided between The Cancer Society of The Bahamas and the Bahamas Diabetes Association.

This year’s event will once again be held simultaneously in Nassau and Freeport on April 21, commencing at 6.30am at Montagu Beach in Nassau. In Grand Bahama the event will also start at 6;30 pm from the Jasmine Corporate Centre in Freeport.
