ABACO, Bahamas Chef Charles Stuart of Angler’s Restaurant, Abaco Beach Resort and Boat Harbour Marina , took home three first place awards at the Bahamas Ministry of Tourism’s Taste Our Bahamas Competition, held in Fort Charlotte on Oct. 4 and 11, 2014.

Sous chef Stuart bested his competitors with his delicious creations, and Preston Jones, a bartender at the resort, debuted a new addition to the resort’s signature cocktail menu.

Stuart’s lobster and mushroom thermidor, a restaurant favorite, won first place in the “Best Lobster Dish” category, while his guava and cream cheese lattice pastry with a warm white brandy sauce, won first place in the “Best Pastry” category. Preston won “Best Alcoholic Taste of Our Bahamas” for his Abaco Beach Bum – a refreshing mix of cointreau, vodka and peach snapps.

“Angler’s Restaurant has always been a fine dining staple in the Out Islands of the Bahamas,” said Manny Alexiou, the resort’s owner.  “We are proud to have a team of talented associates to create delicious culinary experiences for our guests.”

The Taste of Our Bahamas competition is a part of the Ministry of Tourism’s Culinary Month, which is being celebrated through Oct. 31.
