Nassau, Bahamas - On Thursday October 12, 2017, Sunryse Information Management in partnership with RBC Royal Bank will host its 10th annual Sunryse Shred Day. Starting at 7:00 a.m., the document management company will collect and shred free of charge a maximum of 100 lbs of confidential documents per person participating in the event. In turn, Sunryse will donate $1 for every 10lbs of shredded paper to the Sister Sister Breast Cancer Support group. Event cosponsors RBC Royal Bank will match this amount up to $1000.
Shred Day began as a way for Sunryse to educate the public on the importance of protecting confidential information. It also allowed the company to contribute to worthy causes in the community. Since 2007, the initiative has resulted in an estimated 50,000 lbs. of shredded bank statements, credit card receipts and other confidential records and more than $16,000 in donations to local non-profit organizations.
“As a company, we are committed to sensitizing the public and the business community on the importance of guarding confidentiality and being proactive as it relates to all aspects of document management including destruction. We are pleased to have RBC join us for the second year in a row as a major cosponsor for Shred Day,” said Chris Sawyer, President of Sunryse Information Management.
“Through the years, we have watched Shred Day evolve into an event that our clients and the public look forward to supporting. Through this initiative, we’ve also been able to support causes like Sister Sister as they continue to help members of the broader Bahamian community.”
Over the next 10 days, Sunryse and RBC Royal Bank are encouraging members of the public to organize personal documents so that items needing to be disposed of can be securely shredded in a safe and environmentally friendly way.

Shred Day 2017 starts at 7 a.m. and runs to 6 p.m. on Thursday October 12 on the Western Esplanade parking lot – Arawak Cay, opposite the Road Traffic Inspection Office.
