The Bahamas Telecommunications Company (BTC) is again a Platinum Sponsor of the Sir Victor Sassoon Heart Foundation Ball. The Foundation, which concentrates on children suffering from heart disease and related conditions, also received a Samsung smart phone from BTC for their silent auction fundraiser.

Since 1961, the Sir Victor Sassoon Heart Foundation has assisted over 4,000 Bahamian children affected by congenital heart disease, which is the leading cause of death in Bahamian children and usually cannot be detected until after birth when it is costly, but critical to have immediate treatment.

R.E. Barnes, Chairman of the Heart Foundation said that long term sponsors like BTC are necessary for the success of the Ball, which is the Foundation’s major fundraiser. “BTC has been a major sponsor for many years. We wouldn’t be able to save the lives of as many children as we do without the support of sponsors like BTC. We are extremely grateful for all the support that we get, big or small.”Indira Collie, BTC Manager of Public Relations said, “BTC has a tradition of community support and we are proud to be a long term sponsor of the Heart Foundation and the excellent work that they do.”

The 52nd Annual Heart Ball is scheduled for this Saturday, February 13 in the Independence Ballroom at the Melia Nassau Beach Resort, Cable Beach.
