Freeport, Grand Bahama – Back for its incredible 13th year the Freeport Rugby Club English Premier League Soccer Camp started last week. The week-long camp has been recognized as one of the best values for summer time activity for children in Grand Bahama and is again being supported by the most exciting professional soccer league in the world, the English Premier League and now BTC Northern Bahamas.
The international love affair with Soccer (Football) has spread to the Bahamas and has grown steadily in recent time particularly with the country’s participation in, and hosting of the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup 2017 this year.

The children who take part in the Premiere Soccer Camp are provided with soccer kit uniforms, socks, lunch, fresh fruit and this year everyone received a BTC t-shirt and sports bag plus FREE Wi-Fi for all those social media hungry children.

“BTC is proud to support all sports,” said Eldri Ferguson-Mackey, BTC Northern Vice President. “Bahamians are natural athletes and our love of any game or sport is proof in our amazing achievements in world and Olympic games.  We can’t wait to support a Bahamian team or player in this sports medium one day on the International stage.”

The camp kicked into high gear on Monday with the assistance of two international FA Cup league, and 2 college coaches who have flown in to help train and support local coach volunteers. The English Premier League has sponsored the event from its inception and its involvement has facilitated a resurgence in the game on the island –one that the late Sir Jack Hayward was patron and supporter too.

“We have over a hundred children participating this year, “ said Rob Spellor, FRFC President. “Thanks to Eldri and the BTC Northern Team, we have a full kit for our kids, much needed sports bags and the most popular addition Wi-Fi! BTC was also instrumental in helping us with our Rugby Jr Festival and now they stepped in again to make this event happen. We are very thankful.”
