BTVI Supports St. George’s Tech Fair

President of The Bahamas Technical and Vocational Institute (BTVI), Dr. Robert W. Robertson, highlighted the importance of having the right skills to compete in a global and technological economy, while speaking at the recently held St. George’s technical vocational and science exhibition.

Dr. Robertson noted that BTVI’s Freeport campus has more than doubled its enrollment within the past few years from an annual average of 250 to more than 500 based on three key reasons: Firstly, BTVI’s success of securing City and Guilds’ status and becoming a Cisco Academy. Also, introduction by the government of the Be Your Own Boss (BYOB) Scholarship program has greatly expanded access to technical and vocational programs at BTVI.

Dr Robertson said BTVI will continue to work with high schools throughout The Bahamas, attending recruitment exercises where information will be provided of the options for students to develop careers in technical vocational education and training (TVET).

He pointed to BTVI’s thrust of continuing to pride itself on offering courses and programs that represent affordable excellence.
