Nassau, Bahamas - A group of future doctors, nurses and allied healthcare professionals will receive financial assistance this coming school year thanks to the Bahamas Medical Center Dri Tri which was held at the end of January.

The event – which involved individuals and teams rowing, biking and running in the gym at Bahamas Medical Center to see who could log the further distance in a set time – raised nearly $8,000 for the Dr Meyer Rassin Foundation scholarship fund.
The fund provides scholarships to young Bahamians who are studying healthcare at the tertiary level.

“We are so thankful to all the people who pushed themselves physically to compete in this unique event and of course to our sponsors, Bebin Diapers, GoAheads biscuits, Subway, Royal Bank of Canada, Ports International, Coca Cola, Cycles Unlimited, Abaco Markets, Dolphin Encounters and Blue Lagoon Islands, Sandy Toes and the British Colonial Hilton who made it possible for us to create and host an exciting sporting event while at the same time raising money to help these deserving young Bahamians,” said Jessica Robertson, Marketing Director at Doctors Hospital and Bahamas Medical Center.

The 2016 scholarships will be announced and presented later in July. Applications are due by March 31 st each year and must be submitted to inixon@doctorshosp.com. Following its huge success the Dri Tri will be held again on February 5, 2017.
