Nassau, Bahamas – Bahamian student Jonathan Antor has been selected as a Delegate of the Congress of Future Science & Technology Leaders to be held in Lowell, Massachusetts on June 29th – July 1st, 2016. Jonathan was nominated by astronaut Buzz Aldrin, Science Director of the National Academy of Future Scientists and Technologists based on his academic achievement, leadership potential and passion for science and technology. The Congress is an honours-only program for high school students who are passionate about science, technology, engineering or mathematics (STEM). The purpose of the event is to honour, inspire, motivate and direct the top students in the United States who aspire to be scientists and technologists, to stay true to their dream and, after the event, to provide a path, plan and resources to help them reach their goal. Fifteen-year-old Jonathan is currently an eleventh grader at Montverde Academy in Montverde, Florida where he has studied for the last year. The son of Harold & Sabrina Antor, Johnathan has a long history of academic success. He has been a mainstay on the honours list since elementary school, where he served as the Head Boy of his 6th grade class at Temple Christian Elementary School. Following that, he attended Queen’s College from grades 7 through 9 where he completed 6 BJC’s scoring all A’s. “This is a crucial time . . . when we need more nimble-minded and creative scientists and technologists who are even better prepared for a future that is life changing exponentially,” said Richard Rossi, Executive Director, National Academy of Future Scientists and Technologists. “Focused, bright and determined students like Jonathan Antor are our future and he deserves all the mentoring and guidance we can give him.” During the three-day Congress themed “Greatness Awaits”, Jonathan will bementoredby some of the greatest living minds in science and technology.He will hear presentations from Nobel Laureates, National Medal of Science Winners, deans from the world’s top tech universities and teen science prodigies. Johnathan ultimately aspires to pursue a career in Finance.
