Bank is Platinum Sponsor for Ball

NASSAU, The Bahamas – Scotiabank is spreading love to children with cardiovascular disease by sponsoring the Heart Ball. Ninety-seven percent of every dollar raised at the event directly impacts young persons with congenital heart abnormalities.

“The Sir Victor Sassoon (Bahamas) Heart Foundation does remarkable work in our community that sometimes goes unnoticed,” said Nakera Symonette, Senior Manager of Marketing and Public Relations at Scotiabank, Caribbean North District. “This year marks the golden anniversary of the Golden Heart Award, by Lady Sassoon; I am very proud of my grandfather, Roderick Alphonso Simms, who left a lasting legacy behind as the 1988 recipient of this prestigious award.”

The 54th Annual Heart Ball is scheduled for this Saturday, February 17 in the Independence Ballroom at the Melia Nassau Beach Resort, Cable Beach. It is a Black Tie affair with cocktails at 7:15p.m. Dinner will be served at 8:30p.m.

“Scotiabank has been partnering with the Heart Foundation for years as our philanthropic focus is closely aligned with that of this distinguished organization,” said Maxine Seymour, Manager of Sponsorships and Philanthropy at Scotiabank. “We are committed to supporting the communities where we live and work and will continue to partner with groups aimed at helping youth become better off.”

About The Sir Victor Sassoon (Bahamas) Heart Foundation

The Sir Victor Sassoon (Bahamas) Heart Foundation is one of the most respected charitable organizations in the Bahamas.  This privately funded charity raises funds primarily through donations and from the Annual Heart Ball, held each February. Through the lasting funding of Lady Sassoon, almost all of the overhead costs of the Foundation are donated.  So benefactors can rest assured that their donations are going to assist our young patients.  Over 97% of each dollar raised goes directly to the aid of the children. For over 50 years the Sassoon Heart Foundation has assisted more than 4,000 young Bahamians with heart ailments.
