Nassau, Bahamas -
On March 3rd, 2012 the third
annual Business Builders Immersion conference will be held at the Sheraton
Nassau Beach Resort. The purpose of the conference is to aid in the
birth and development of Bahamian entrepreneurs.
“I know the struggles of an entrepreneur,
and hear the concerns of young people who this conference was birthed
for,” says Sharell Carroll, conference founder/host. “BBI allows
young people to network with like-minded individuals as well as seasoned
business persons who can provide guidance and mentorship.”
High school students, college students
and young individuals within the community who are interested in getting
the tools they need to start and maintain successful businesses are
BBI’s target audiences. This information is creatively delivered by
successful CEOs in various business fields, and complemented by activities
designed to enhance learning. The Business Builders Guide will be introduced
as a companion booklet to give attendees strategies for success in business.
This year at BBI, seven persons will
be honored for their outstanding work as entrepreneurs and supporters
of the conference over the years. Individuals between the ages of 18
and 35 with creative functioning businesses have been nominated on the
SageEden Media Group Facebook page by the public. Seven persons will
be chosen by a Facebook vote, and the overall winner will receive the
BBI Innovative Entrepreneur Award. Additionally, past financial
supporters and advisors for the conference will be honored.
This year, the international keynote
speaker is Rosa Combs of Washington, D.C., founder of an organization
for professional women who want to expand their business ventures.
“I am beyond honored to be invited
to the beautiful Bahamas to relay a message of inspiration and innovation
to today's youth,” says Combs. “The ability to connect and share
ideas globally is very important, and it is an opportunity that I am
proud to participate in.”
Furthermore, Mr. Philip Simon, Executive
Director of We The People added, “There’s an old adage that says
‘always begin with the end in mind’. But how many of us truly incorporate
into our SWOT analysis the constant impact of change and the elements
that feed it? We may not know what the future holds, but having the
right mindset for change is a part of the preparation.”
Other BBI speakers include Scieska
Adderley, CEO, Media Ink; Nekia Brice, CEO, Websoft; Lavonne Ferguson,
CEO of Cute Confections and Marketing Spokesperson for Islands of the
World Fashion Week; Keshelle Kerr, CEO, Creative Wealth Training; Atario
Mitchell, CEO, Bahamas Striping; Aquila North, CEO, North Star Business
Consultants; Philip Simon, Executive Director, We The People; and Kim
Welcome, CEO, Influential Voice.
“This being the third annual
BBI, I am truly grateful to God for the endurance and passion he has
given me to host this community-minded event. As a young Bahamian and
businesswoman, I want to demonstrate to others that they too can break
the barriers that exist for youth in business. Attending this event
is an investment in your future. Certainly it is our mindset that will
determine how deeply we belief that we can succeed in business.” says
Carroll.
