Nassau, Bahamas – For the fifth consecutive year CIBC FirstCaribbean has thrown its backing behind the winning national CARIFTA Swimming Team assisting the young athletes with their travel expenses.

Gezel Farrington, CIBC FirstCaribbean’s Director of Retail Banking Channels congratulated the athletes on winning a whopping 54 medals and said the bank was proud to have assisted the athletic stars.

“Supporting youth is an important tenet of our corporate citizenship and CIBC FirstCaribbean is honoured to support such an excellent group of athletes,” Ms. Farrington said.

“We have a longstanding relationship with the Bahamas Swim Federation (BSF) and we continue to be impressed with the determination, tenacity, and spirit of these young swimmers. We congratulate all of the swimmers who have competed. Whether they medalled, improved, or otherwise, they gave their all representing Bahamas and we are exceedingly proud to have sponsored this spectacular team,” she added.

Algernon Cargill, President of the BSF, stated that the federation was grateful for the reliable support of CIBC FirstCaribbean. “This is the fifth year in a row that CIBC FirstCaribbean has sponsored the CARIFTA swimming team,” said Mr. Cargill.

“We are very appreciative of the support. It allows our athletes to focus on ensuring we represent the Bahamas, do our best in the pool, achieve best-time goals and successfully defend our CARIFTA title,” he said.
