Nassau, Bahamas - For the past 27 years the Antique Auto Club of The Bahamas has been quietly conducting an annual program to provide Christmas gifts and food packages to about 80 needy children in two Primary schools in Nassau. In 2016, the program was expanded to include three schools and about 125 children.

Unfortunately, last December, one of the Schools, Uriah McPhee, was unable to accommodate the Club’s program as the school had a serious plumbing program and was in the midst of repairs. The Club members promised the children they would be back as soon as the school was “back in shape”.  True to their word, seven members of the Club returned with two truckloads of gifts and groceries’ on Jan. 17 for a “Christmas in January” party.

About 60 excited well behaved children put on a little show with Christmas songs and a thank you to the Club members. As usual, it was a heart-warming experience for the Club members. One of the members commented; “It is such a heartwarming experience, especially when we get thank you letters from the children, many of them thanking us for the Only Christmas Gift they got that year and, in some cases, the child would say that our bag of groceries provided their Christmas dinner. Feedback like that makes it well worth the time we put into the project”.

Don Aranha, Organizer and Originator of the event added “I want to sincerely thank the D’Albenas Agency for the continued support given us for this event over the years. Without that support, our project would not have been as successful”

The Antique Auto Club of The Bahamas was formed in 1 987 by six men interested in the hobby of restoration & preservation of Vintage Automobiles and celebrated its 30th Anniversary last year. The Hobby is growing and the Club now has a membership of about 65 men & women members.
