Bahamian born model David Dion has officially signed to Wilhelmina PA as a model / actor and joins an impressive array of talent.  Mr. Dion is an accomplished actor and model that has been featured in two Bahamian commercials, three films, print ads, and a multitude of fashion shows.

David was born in Nassau, but considers Rum Cay his home town as that's where he spent most of his early years.

Before pursuing acting and modeling he was involved in photography and graphic designs, and perhaps that's why he's so comfortable on the other side of the camera today.

He has been seen in Brutha magazine and Nu Woman magazine, both online from The Bahamas; and in the U.S. he's been seen in Fashion Avenue News magazine of NYC.  In 2011 he competed in the International Talent Showcase in Florida where he was named Most Photogenic, Best Acting in Monologue, and Best Hi-Fashion model.  In 2013 he was a lead actor in the NYC play, The History of Here, written by Lisa Leaverton.

David is also a signature model for U.S. designer Ray Brown for Ray Vincente and is scheduled to appear in upcoming ads for Ray Vincente Menswear.

In October 2013, David Dion will also be a signature model for New York Men’s Fashion week launch event and has additional upcoming projects scheduled in the U.S.

The Bahamas Weekly caught up to David Dion and asked him a few questions:

How did you get involved in acting?

My acting start to take off after I competed in the International Talent Showcase in Florida in 2011.  I then took some acting class by Leslie Vanderpool (Founder, Bahamas International Film Festival) which was a great learning experience for me. After that I did Theater in the Parks produce by Ms Vanderpool in the summer of 2012.  After that I was cast in 3 short films set to come out this year. I was excited to then get cast in a play in New York called, “The History of Here”. It was a lots of fun.

When did you know you wanted to model?

I did not start out wanting to be a model. Acting and singing is what I always wanted to do. It was not until I saw an ad in the newspaper looking for models and I decided to give it a try and was told that I was good at it, and from there, I began to pursue it.

What are you most proud?

I am most proud of the two years I took care of my father when he became ill and  was bedridden. Although it was hard, it is something I’d do all over again, and I miss him so much.

What is your ultimate goal?

I want to be the lead actor in a number one box office film. I want to also direct and produce movies and TV shows. And if God allows me reach a great level of fame, I want to take that fame and help other Bahamian talent reach their dreams.

Final words?

I’ve been on this journey for a long time and it’s only because of the grace of God, and my desire to succeed; and the support of my family and friends that has keep me going. I want to say thank you to all of them who have helped me get this far, especially my mom, who is everything to me.

Being signed to Wilhelmina PA means a lot, and it's helping me believe, even more, that I will reach my goals. It is just another beginning of even greater things to come.
